Saint Thomas was one of the Twelve Apostles. Also known as Didymus, "the Twin," he left everything to follow Christ. He is remembered for his doubt of the Resurrection, but believed when Jesus showed him the wounds of His hands and His side. Thomas was the first to proclaim Christ as both Lord and God.

After the Ascension, sacred tradition tells us that Thomas traveled throughout the world preaching the Gospel, starting churches in Palestine, Asia, Ethiopia, and India. He was martyred in India after converting the family of a government official to Christianity.

His feast is celebrated on October 6, and again on June 30 with the Twelve Apostles.
