The Protection (Pokrov) of the Mother of God is depicted in this mounted icon in the Jordanville tradition. The Pokrov feast celebrates the vision of St Andrew the Fool-for-Christ in Constantinople, where the Theotokos spread her veil over the faithful — an enduring image of her eternal protection and ceaseless intercession.
