4 x 5 inches

Saint Anna was the wife of Saint Joachim. In her old age, Anna became the mother of the Virgin Mary Theotokos, and the grandmother of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Her feast is celebrated on September 9, and she is known as a powerful intercessor for childless women and for every kind of healing.

This icon was painted with reference to the miraculous icon from Our Lady of Sorrows Russian Orthodox Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The prototype began to stream myrrh on Mother's Day 2004 and continued for several years. Powerful healings have come to many of those who pray before the icon, which now resides at St. Tikhon's Monastery in Pennsylvania.
